Privacy policy

This page explains what personal information I collect through catherinepolet.com, why I collect it, and what you can do about it. I am Catherine Polet EI (entrepreneur individuel), sole trader registered in France (Route de Monbahus, 47800 Montignac-de-Lauzun), and I am the person responsible for your data. You can reach me at hello@catherinepolet.com.

What I collect

  • For a reading, a free summary or an agenda: your full name at birth, the name you use every day, your date, time and place of birth, your email address, the language you prefer, and whatever you choose to tell me in the form I send before a call.

  • For a Duo reading or a gift: the same birth details for the other person. Please make sure they agree before you send them to me.

  • When you buy something: your name, email address, billing details and, for a printed agenda, your postal address. Card details go straight to the payment provider. I never see or store them.

  • When you write to me or join the newsletter or a waiting list: your name, your email address and your message.

  • When you visit the site: basic technical information such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location, collected through cookies (see below).

Why I collect it

  • To prepare and deliver what you asked for: a reading, a free summary, an agenda, a gift voucher (performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before one).

  • To book and hold our call and to answer your messages (contract and legitimate interest).

  • To send you my newsletter, only if you asked for it (consent). Every email has an unsubscribe link.

  • To keep invoices and accounts as French law requires (legal obligation).

  • To understand how the site is used and improve it (consent, through the cookie banner).

Birth details are used only to calculate your charts and write your reading. I never sell your data and I never use it for anything else.

Who I share it with

Only the services I need to run this site and my work:

  • Squarespace for the website, forms, newsletter and site statistics.

  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited) for visit statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies.

  • Stripe for payments.

  • A booking tool for scheduling calls, and a video call service for the call itself.

  • A printer and a delivery service for printed agendas (name and postal address only).

  • My accountant and the French tax authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. In that case transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long I keep it

  • Birth details and your written reading: three years after our last contact, so that I can answer your questions or prepare a later reading without asking again. You can ask me to delete them sooner.

  • Free summary requests and messages that don’t lead to a reading: one year.

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

  • Invoices and accounting records: ten years, as French law requires.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data I hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to me at hello@catherinepolet.com and I will answer within one month. If you feel I haven’t handled your data properly, you can also complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL, at cnil.fr.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. This site uses:

  • Essential cookies, which make the site work (security, forms, checkout). They can’t be switched off.

  • Analytics cookies, from Squarespace and Google Analytics, which tell me which pages are visited and how people find the site. They are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner.

I don’t use advertising cookies on this site. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the cookies in your browser, and the banner will ask you again.

Changes

If I change this policy, I will update the date at the top of this page.
