A reading as a gift: for whom, and when to order

In short: A personal reading makes a meaningful present for a milestone birthday, the end of school, a new business, retirement or after a hard year, because it gives someone full attention on who they are. Choose the reading by the question the person keeps coming back to: the Compass for work and direction, the personal reading for a new decade or a new chapter, the founder reading for a business. You don’t need their birth details to buy it. The gift voucher arrives by email as a PDF with their name on it, is valid for twelve months, and can be ordered until a few days before Christmas.

Picture a friend turning fifty and dreading it. Now picture her opening a few pages written from her own birth details, about who she is and what the coming years hold. She reads them twice, laughs at how well they know her, and turns up with a list of questions. Pages like that don’t end up in a drawer: they get kept.

Most of us own enough things. What we’re rarely given is someone’s full attention on who we are.

Why give a reading instead of a thing?

Because it is about the person, not about the shop. A scarf says “I thought of you”. A reading says “I wanted you to see yourself clearly”. It lands differently, and it lasts: people go back to their pages years later, when a new chapter opens or an old question comes back.

It is also a present that doesn’t take up room. Nothing to dust, nothing to return, no wrong size. For the person who has everything, or who is trying to own less, that alone is a relief.

And it travels well. I work in English, French, Spanish and German, by video call, so the person you’re thinking of can live in another country and still have the whole experience in their own language.

What does the person actually receive?

More than a horoscope. I read the person in four systems: Human Design, Western astrology, Ba Zi and numerology. Each one looks at them from a different angle, and the reading brings the four together, so they can see where the systems agree.

For the personal reading, that means a call of about 90 minutes and a written reading of around 60 pages, in plain language, to keep. It covers how they’re made, how their energy works, love and relationships, money and work, and the years ahead. The Compass, the founder reading and the Duo follow the same pattern, each focused on its own question.

Which reading for which occasion?

Here is how I would match the readings to the moments people most often ask me about.

An 18th or 21st birthday, the end of school or university: the Compass reading, €290. It answers the question they’re being asked by everyone: what will you do? Instead of a job title, it gives them the shape of the work that suits them, and the reasons.

A birthday with a zero in it: the personal reading, €290. A new decade is a natural moment to look at who you’ve become and what comes next. Thirty, forty, fifty and sixty each come with their own questions, and the reading meets them where they are.

Someone starting a business or going freelance: the founder reading, €650. It shows how they’re built to work, sell and decide, before they copy someone else’s method. Most new business owners are handed a lot of advice that was written for somebody else.

Retirement: the personal reading, €290. The first blank page in forty years deserves a good map. It pairs well with a few honest questions about what to do with the years after work.

A couple, a parent and a grown-up child, two close friends: the Duo bundle, €720. Each has their own reading, then one for the two of them together. It suits a wedding, an anniversary, or a parent and child finding a new way of being adults together.

A year that has been hard: the personal reading with agenda, from €430. The reading gives perspective, and the agenda gives the months ahead a shape. After a loss, an illness in the family or a long stretch of upheaval, a year laid out by someone’s own rhythm can be a quiet comfort.

How do you choose when you’re hesitating between two?

Think about the question the person keeps coming back to. If it is about the work they’re made for, choose the Compass. If it is about who they are and what comes next in life as a whole, the personal reading is the place to start. If they talk about clients, prices and how to grow, it is the founder reading.

A few other things can help you decide.

  • Their age and stage. A school leaver usually wants direction. Someone in their fifties often wants perspective. A new business owner wants practical answers.

  • How curious they are. If they love this kind of thing, the agenda turns the reading into something they’ll use every week. If they’re new to it, start with the reading alone.

  • Your budget. The personal reading and the Compass are the same price, so choose by the question, not the cost.

If you’re still unsure, the page that compares the readings sets them side by side.

How does the gift voucher work?

You choose the reading and pay. You don’t need to know the person’s birth time, or anything else about them. You receive a voucher by email, as a PDF with their name on it, to print and slip into a card or to forward on the day. It is valid for twelve months.

When they’re ready, they write to me. I send them a short form, we arrange a call, and afterwards they receive their full written reading. The call is part of the gift: it is where they ask their own questions and where the reading comes alive.

The form asks for their date, place and time of birth, and their full name as it appears on their birth certificate. If they don’t know their exact time, I’ve written about what the birth time changes, and what to do without it. Most people find it on a birth certificate or by asking a parent.

Is it all right to give someone a reading they didn’t ask for?

A good question, and one I take seriously. The voucher is an invitation, not an appointment. Nothing happens until the person decides to write to me, and they choose the timing. If they never use it, nobody’s chart has been read without their agreement.

It does help to know the person a little. Someone who rolls their eyes at horoscopes may still enjoy it, because a reading in four systems is practical and personal rather than a prediction. But if you know they would feel uncomfortable, a different present will be kinder.

When should you order for Christmas?

A voucher can be ordered until a few days before Christmas, because it arrives by email. The voucher is what goes under the tree. The reading itself takes place in the new year, at a time the person chooses.

If you’re adding the printed agenda, bear in mind that each one is made for one person after their reading, then printed and posted. It reaches them four to six weeks after the call, so it is a present that keeps arriving.

The same goes for birthdays, graduations and retirement parties. The voucher can be ready on the day, even if you remember the evening before.

A small warning

People who receive a reading tend to want one for their partner, their sister and their best friend. Don’t be surprised if, after one reading, the rest of the family wants theirs too. Consider yourself told.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the person’s birth time to buy a reading as a gift?

No. You only need their name for the voucher. They give me their birth details themselves when they’re ready to book.

How long is a gift voucher valid?

Twelve months from the date you buy it. The person can book their reading at any time within that year.

Can the person have their reading in another language?

Yes. I write readings and hold calls in English, French, Spanish and German. They simply choose their language when they write to me.

Can I give the personal agenda on its own?

The agenda is built from the reading, so it can only be given with a reading, or to someone who has already had one with me. Together they make a present that lasts the whole year.

What is a good spiritual gift for a 50th birthday?

Something personal rather than decorative. A reading that looks at who they’ve become and what the next decade holds suits a 50th very well, because it meets the questions that birthday tends to bring up.

Would you like to give a reading?

Choose the reading that fits the person and the moment, add the agenda if you like, and the voucher arrives in your inbox with their name on it. Vouchers exist for every reading and for the agenda, digital or printed.
